Support for the Windrush Defenders Group*
The Windrush Scandal continues to affect thousands of individuals in 2025, and many within our community are still grappling with its consequences. The Windrush Defenders group provides crucial support to those impacted by this ongoing injustice. I am requesting a donation of £500 from Trafford to the Windrush Defenders group to support their vital work. Additionally, I recommend that the video “Justice 4 Windrush” be shown, as it powerfully illustrates the depth and impact of the Windrush Scandal.
Assistance for Victims of Hurricane Melissa*
Jamaica has recently suffered devastation due to Hurricane Melissa, leaving many people displaced and in urgent need of assistance. Trafford should stand in solidarity by supporting those who are working tirelessly to help the survivors. I ask Trafford District to donate £500 to Richie and Nikki LTD, an organisation providing aid to those affected by Hurricane Melissa.
Supporting the Well-being of Staff
The well-being of Trafford staff is of the utmost importance. Many colleagues with Jamaican heritage, as well as those from the African Caribbean Diaspora, have family and friends directly affected by Hurricane Melissa – myself included. Both Windrush Defenders and Richie and Nikki LTD are reputable organisations that serve Trafford and the wider community. I am therefore requesting that Trafford make a financial contribution of £500 to each organisation in recognition of their hard work and commitment to supporting those in need.
